RJ is currently at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, where he leads marketing and strategic partnerships for Innovation150, a nationwide program engaging youth and families in science for Canada’s 150th anniversary. RJ’s career in science education and outreach has spanned industry, academia and non-profits, and included the Banff Centre’s Science Communications program and the University of Toronto Science Leadership Program. Why the fascination with science? RJ blames the inventive rainbow trout farm he grew up on in rural Ontario (not high school science courses – he dropped all those). RJ is also co-President of Plugin, a non-profit that plans parties in the name of sustainable community development in Waterloo Region’s growing tech startup scene.
