Olivia is an Inuk from Kuujjuaq, where she works for the Kativik Regional Government in the Sustainable Employment Department as the coordinator of the Youth Employment Services program. She manages the Ungava Coast office and works with seven remote communities. In her region and on a national level, Olivia advocates for youth and Inuit rights, fights against suicide, facilitates reconciliation and decolonization work with youth and newcomers, promotes Inuit identity and culture, and works with the Qarjuit Youth council, the new regional youth body. In September 2016, Olivia received an award for the advancement of Inuit Youth in the region from Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami. She hopes to continue to find new and innovative ways to help her people succeed in bridging the traditional and modern worlds.
