Brett is Vice-President and Deputy Chief Economist at Scotiabank. A macroeconomist by training, Brett has worked across a range of roles in financial markets, international economic policy and academia, both in Canada and abroad. Brett is a Rhodes Scholar with degrees in economics from the University of Oxford and Queen’s University. His research interests are focused on economic empowerment, impact investing, international finance, trade and sovereign debt. Brett is also involved in heritage architecture preservation and wilderness conversation. Brett received the 2014 Prix Notable Québec in Finance and the 2015 Good Citizen Award from his hometown of Lincoln, Ontario.
