Heikoop, Emily

Emily is President of an amalgamated local of 2,300 members in four bargaining units working for McMaster University and Regional Medical Associates in a variety of non-academic support staff roles. She has been active in the Union since starting at McMaster in Parking Services in 2000, beginning with the committee that bargained the first collective agreement for parking staff. Emily is currently a Dispatcher in Security Services and has served in a variety of roles on her Local’s Executive Board, standing committees, and also on University committees. Emily is a married mother of two teenagers and four pets, all of whom enjoy camping.
