Kiah is from Baker Lake and is currently living and working in Iqaluit. She attended the Nunavut Sivuniksavut program and recently completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology at Carleton University. She is currently the Assistant Director of the Department of Social and Cultural Development at Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., the Territorial land claims organization. Her work at NTI over the past five years has largely been focused on health policy specific to addressing mental wellness and suicide prevention. Kiah is also a throat singer, an athlete and a stepmother to two girls.
