Jessica is a mental health care professional who specializes in using positive behavioural supports to create opportunities for persons-in-care to achieve their recovery goals. She is also an active member in her union, the Health Sciences Association of Alberta. Jessica sits on her Union’s Social Justice Committee (chairing the ad hoc environmental committee); participates in multiple union workshops, events and labour schools; and is currently in training to become a union steward. Jessica’s volunteer activities include substitute teaching English as a second language to low-income newcomers and acting as a guest participant on the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for a women’s correctional institution. Topics important to Jessica include the growing issue of climate change, reconciliation and Indigenous rights, overcoming barriers to inclusion and celebrating diversity.
