Chris is the President of Longshoremen’s Protective Union (I.L.A.) Local 1953, he has been interested in the labour movement since a young boy. He became President of the local Dockers union in 2017 after working on the docks in St. John’s as a HD Crane Mechanic. Chris volunteers his time with Iron and Earth East which advocates for a just transition to renewable energy for energy workers. He also sits on the Douglas-Caldwell Foundation as a regional rep for Newfoundland & Labrador. He has moved back east to be closer to his elderly grandfather and kids who live in Cape Breton. He enjoys fishing, hockey, Newfoundland/Irish history, many genres of music, French and Gaelic languages, boxing, exploring different foods, cultures and socio-economic issues in workers’ lives.
