Réjean was 19 years old when he left his native Gaspé region to try his luck on the Montreal labour market in the spring of 1989. That same year, he began his career in the ambulance service, on the support staff. After completing his college training in 1994, Réjean became a paramedic with the same employer. He has held various union positions over the years, including the job of President since 2007. During that time, he has helped change union culture and has negotiated agreements with the Government. This has required presenting positions to the media so as to turn public opinion into an ally.
