Alika is an award-winning physician, physician leader, speaker, alignment consultant and the first Indigenous physician listed by the Medical Post on its annual ranking of Canada’s 50 Most Powerful Doctors. In 2016, he won the ‘Great Healthcare Debate’ on behalf of the Indigenous Health Alliance, a competition voted on by more than 700 health leaders from across Canada. In addition to clinical practice, Alika works with the Indigenous Health Alliance to align national medical organizations and health decision-makers towards community-led, practical implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action on Health. Alika currently sits on the council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, the board of HealthCareCAN and is immediate past-president of the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada.
